Yesterday was a truffle-tastic day... we commenced the day with a late work vacation brunch for my wife 's work on NIB

Delightful. Absolutely delightful. We holded some earth-balls of the cocoa salmagundi, and one of those truffle holded a fill that was of the mycological
smorgasbord. So we travelled directly from brunch to the Oregon Earthnut Festival
( henceforward remarked as `` OTF '' ) at the Vale River Hostelry in Eugene.
The entry fee was $ 15, but it go with a great variety of earth-ball samples, whether infused into oil, cheese, breadstuffs, shortbread cookies... plus for an extra $ 5 I got an OTF Riedel glass
with equally many vino tastings as I desired. There were belike 6-8 wineries there with 4-6 vinoes each. Oh... it was awing. We penetrated with the 2007 Willamette Vale Vineyards ' Riesling. It was merely $ 10 and not equally sweet as most Riesling... nice drinkability. TheGewrztraminer from a winery tardily in the tasting ( therefore I bury their name
) was besides aucking fwesome
, but I believe we were passed in both the notecase and fatigue classes; so we maked n't pick it upwardly.

of the OTF was the earthnut dog presentation. The trainer, Jim Sanford, and 6 twelvemonth old Lagotto Romagnolo
called Tom came from a earthnut woodlet at the Blackberry Farm
in Knoxville, TN. Jim sayed us a great deal about this wondrous Italian strain of dogs, but essentially came out with `` any dog can make this

He travelled through some of the history of the dogs, the plantation, and the draws they 've conveyed inward ( 25 lbs of earth-balls in one day

Earthnuts can get $ 600 a lb; so a 25 lb draw in one day is $ 15, 000
worth of mushrooms!!
After a speedy Q & A session, we all travelled outside and Jim holded Tom encounter some earthnuts that he holded antecedently concealled by a big tree in a field by the Hostelry. Tom maked a good occupation, despite being deflected by the pike, the new odors, the 30-40 people bordering him and the other dog in the field.
